Dr. Julie Colwell

A relationship expert, speaker, and author.

For nearly four decades she’s been operationalizing how people can make change, not just understand why they’re stuck.

Julie developed the Colwell Practice through her clinical training as a psychologist, thousands of hours working with individuals, couples, groups and in her own life. It’s a body-centered approach influenced by the pioneering work of the Hendricks Institute. This breaks from talk therapy; this work is about what you can do in any moment to aim for joy. The shockingly simple tools help you catch yourself mid-pattern and know how to step into a new direction over and over.

Julie’s core belief is that you’re not broken. You don’t need fixing. She teaches a practice to help you clear away what’s been standing between you and the connection, ease, and depth you’re already capable of.

In the four books she’s authored and in the communities she’s built she teaches real people to meet conflict instead of getting stuck in it. And in building something more spacious on the other side relationships, individuals and communities have found themselves exploring possibilities that are shockingly bright.

Julie speaks on this work regularly. If you want to know more about please see the About tab.

“Julie is playful, evokes laughter with ease, and models how to live in ‘aliveness’. Julie exhibits love for each participant and has a genuine desire for each to express the practices in their lives in the way they really want to.”
